Chief Minister Balochistan Launches Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program and Approves PhD Scholarships.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has announced the initiation of the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program in Balochistan. In a significant move, the Chief Minister has granted approval for PhD scholarships to be availed in the top 200 universities worldwide. Additionally, special educational scholarships have been allocated for the children of martyrs, minorities, and the transgender community.
During a review meeting of the Balochistan Endowment Fund at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti gave in-principle approval for the Benazir Bhutto Scholarships Program, marking a historic moment as the province’s first higher education scholarships. These scholarships will complement the existing ones provided by the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF).
Furthermore, the provincial government has pledged to cover all educational expenses for the children of declared martyrs, from nursery to higher education levels. To facilitate this, BEEF, in collaboration with the Interior Department, will compile data on all personnel declared as martyrs and expedite necessary actions.
In a progressive step towards inclusivity, it was decided in the meeting to allocate 50-50 scholarships annually, from nursery to master’s level, for minorities and transgender individuals in Balochistan under the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Program.
Zakaria Khan Noorzai, the Chief Executive Officer Balochistan Education Endowment Fund, provided a comprehensive briefing during the meeting, highlighting the strategic implementation plans for the scholarship programs.
