Lawyers Endowment Funds

DESCRIPTION:

In the wake of the tragic incident on August 8, 2016, in which 56 top brace lawyers of Balochistan were martyred in a single act of terrorism, the Government of Balochistan took a significant initiative to address the resulting professional vacuum. To this end, fund amounting to Rs. 600 million (Presently) is set and approved by the Government for the objective to support the capacity building and professional skill development of practicing lawyers registered with the Balochistan Bar Council.

BEEF invites applications annually from the eligible and talented lawyers for sponsorship under Foreign Funded Scholarships. These fully funded scholarships enable recipients to pursue higher studies in law, including LLM and Bar at Law programs in the United Kingdom (UK) OR any foreign universities as approved and notified by Pakistan Bar Council.

Each year in December, BEEF announces through print and social media a call for scholarship applications from talented and practicing lawyers interested in pursuing higher studies at foreign universities. Applicants are required to meet the prescribed eligibility criteria and submit all necessary documents and prerequisites for consideration.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. Must have local/domicile of Balochistan.
  2. Must have obtained unconditional admission offer letter from foreign Universities as approved and notified by Pakistan Bar Council.
  3. Must not be older than 40 years till the cut-off date.
  4. Must have secured at-least 6.5 Bands Aggregate Valid (not expired) IELTS Score regardless of the requirement of the Institution/University. Documents such as English proficiency or any other proficiency test etc. in lieu of IELTS will not be accepted.
  5. Must have valid Balochistan Bar Council License with at-least two years practicing experience till cut-off date certified by Balochistan Bar Council on prescribed proforma of BEEF (enclosed herewith).
  6. To substantiate, the practicing status, the experience certificate issued by Bar Council shall be accompanied by at-least fifty (50) order sheets obtained in the last two (2) years.
  7. Must have HEC attested LLB or applicable Degrees and relevant Board attested Matric and Intermediate Certificates.
  8. Scholars having availed scholarship once under this program shall be ineligible for scholarship under this program again for any degree.
  9. Eligible candidates have to secure at-least 60% marks in the aptitude test and at-least 60% marks (aggregate) in the prescribed merit formula for consideration of scholarship.
  10. Certificate from Advocate General/Chairman Balochistan Bar   Council.
  11. Distance learning and In-Land programs are ineligible.

 

COVERING COSTS:

  • University Fee.
  • Stipend (covering Living Cost, Hostel Fee, Books and Travel).
  • Air ticket round-trip via the most direct route.
  • Visa Processing for FFS only.
  • Health Insurance (needed for admission/visa processing for some institutions).

Lawyers Endowment Fund for Educational fee reimbursement for the children of 56 Lawyers Martyred in terrorism of 08 August 2016 only

  • Description:

Reference to the above announcement-1 for the Fee Re-imbursement / further Education of the Children of 56 Lawyers of Balochistan, Martyred in a tragic incident of 8th August 2016 that took away an entire generation of Lawyers / Advocates of Balochistan.

As a result of the above incident, the Government of Balochistan took the responsibility to support the deceased families particularly the education of their children. Therefore, an Endowment Fund was established for the children of the Martyred Lawyers and released payment to the deceased families through Higher Education Department, Government of Balochistan. Recently, the said Endowment Fund has been transferred to BALOCHISTAN EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND (BEEF).

  • Procedures:

The families of deceased particularly the Guardians of the Children of Shohdas / Martyred Lawyers are requested to submit applications for the Fee Re-imbursement / payment for further education of all Children attending School/College/University in the country. The education levels may include grade nursery / KG to BS/Masters (up to 16 years of education). The application shall be addressed to:

The following documents are required to be enclosed with the application:-

  1. The original Fee Invoices / Receipts of the payments, if not paid yet. The photocopies of the same are acceptable only if the originals invoices/receipts are not available due to some unavoidable reason.
  2. Copies of fee Invoices / Receipts of the payments, if payment is already made by the office of the Colleges, Higher & Technical Education Department, GoB, Quetta.
  3. Copy of Death /Shahadat Certificate of Martyred Lawyer
  4. Copy of Succession Certificate of legal heirs of Martyred Lawyer
  5. Copy of CNIC of Shaheed / Martyred Lawyer
  6. Copy of CNIC of Widow of Shaheed / Martyred Lawyer
  7. Copy of CNIC or B-Form of all the children of Martyred Lawyer
  8. Copy of CNIC and contact detail of Contact Person. Please also specify his/her relationship with the Martyred Lawyer.
  9. Any other relevant /supporting document, as available.
